Hearts in prime condition

Hearts first team coach Gary Locke reckons a clash with Rotherham on Saturday will leave the Tynecastle outfit in prime condition for the SPL opener against St Johnstone.

Their four-game pre-season programme concludes at the new 12,000 seater New York stadium.

Hearts have so far beaten Raith Rovers and Dunfermline and lost narrowly to Falkirk in warm-up clashes, although more importantly for new manager McGlynn, the players have come through free of injury.

Locke said: “The Rotherham game will be another good test. It will probably be another step up and a really good fixture to have just before the season starts.

“I think we’ll take a big crowd down there so hopefully we can put on another good performance and try to get another win.

“There are no fresh injury worries which is pleasing.”

Saturday’s match has been brought forward to a 2pm kick-off to assist the visitors with their travelling arrangements.
