Double celebration for Child

EILIDH Child wore a Hearts T-shirt to her Scotland team meeting on Saturday night – and followed it up with a hurdles win yesterday in the Loughborough International.

The Olympic hopeful missed out on going to Hampden because of her athletics commitments so watched the game alone in her hotel room. However, after the 5-1 win there was never much chance of her flopping for Scotland in the six-way international match the following day.

Child posted an Olympic B standard of 55.92 to win in impressive style and post the second fastest 400m run by a British woman this season. “It has been a brilliant weekend for me,” said Child who now has three wins out of three for the summer season after success in previous 400m hurdles and 400m races at the Olympic Stadium in May.
