David Weir’s son becomes youngest player in Wigan Athletic history
Jensen Weir, son of ex-Hearts and Rangers defender David Weir, has become the youngest player in Wigan Athletic’s history.
The teenager was a second half substitute in Wigan’s 4-0 defeat to Accington Stanley in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Hide AdThe Lancashire side fielded an entire XI without a single player who’d started a league game, making it the youngest team in their history.
The midfielder replaced Will McGuffie in the 69th minute, becoming the club’s new record holder at 15 years and 280 days.
Youth coach Neil Chadwick told Wigan Today: “Jensen’s a terrific talent, and the fact he was out there shows how much we think of him.
“He’s a level-headed boy, from a good family, and he’s earned his opportunity.
“He’s been terrific for us at Under-18 level, and he’s been terrific when he’s captained Scotland at Under-16 level.”
