Adrian Mrowiec gears up for Gorgie exit

Adrian Mrowiec is hoping to finish his Hearts career with a Scottish Cup final appearance against Hibernian at Hampden, as the Tynecastle club confirmed his contract will not be renewed.

The 28-year-old Polish midfielder follows Ian Black and David Obua in being told he is being released as Hearts look to cut their wage bill.

Mrowiec, who returned to training with the first team yesterday after recovering from a knee injury, is eager to sign off with an appearance at the national stadium on May 19.

“I have had a really good time here, as have my family,” he told Hearts News. “Maybe we will be back one day, who knows. As for the future I don’t know what will happen but going back to Poland is obviously something I will think about.

“Maybe my last game for Hearts could be the Scottish Cup final. What a way to finish that would be. My knee feels good so I hope everything is okay.

“If I can get some action against Celtic the following Sunday, which I think is more likely, I might have a chance of making the final.”

A Hearts spokesperson said: “Adrian proved popular with the fans during his time here thanks to his combative style on the park. We would like to wish him well as he embarks on the next stage of his career.”
