Franck Ribery extends Bayern contract

Bayern Munich have extended the contracts of Franck Ribery and Daniel van Buyten until 2017 and 2014 respectively.

Ribery, who moved to Bayern from Marseille in 2007, has penned a two-year extension to his deal which was due to expire in 2015 and could now complete a decade of service with the European champions.

“We are delighted to keep two cornerstones of our team with us,” said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, chairman of Bayern who this season landed a Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal treble.

“Franck and Daniel performed outstandingly during the season just ended. We could always rely on them and, particularly in decisive games, they frequently made the difference.”

Ribery has become a firm fans’ favourite in Munich and reached some of his best form during their treble-winning season. “I am very happy to be staying here in Munich,” said the Frenchman. “I had promised it to the fans and now I’ve signed the contract.”
