Ex-Rangers stars drop their claim over holiday pay

Four ex-Rangers players challenging the club over unpaid holiday pay have dropped their case, according to reports.

The case against the Ibrox club first surfaced last summer when a group of six players, backed by the player’s union, demanded monies they felt were owed.

Two of the party dropped out after months of failed negotiations. However, four decided to take it further and looked set to take it to a tribunal.

Those have now been identified as Kyle Hutton, Ian Black, Richard Foster and Steven Simonsen. The foursome were among 12 players released at the tail end of last season.

They were claiming that because the 2014/15 season ended on the same day the contracts expired, those released didn’t have the opportunity over the course of the working year to take all 35 days entitled.

There was no real precedent for such a movement and it would have been a landmark case were they successful, with other footballers potentially benefiting.

However, the Scottish Herald are now reporting that the former Ibrox stars have decided to drop their case.
