Ex-Rangers star Josh Windass trolls Celtic fans over Dedryck Boyata

Former Rangers star Josh Windass poked fun at John Hartson and Celtic fans with a tweet over the Green Brigade's banner aimed at Dedryck Boyata.

The fan group unveiled an anti-Boyata banner during their side’s 1-0 win over Hamilton Accademical in the Ladbrokes Premiership on Sunday. It read: “Boyata - not fit to wear the jersey.”

The Belgian centre-back was included in the Celtic team for the first time after appearing to try and force a move away from the club.

Brendan Rodgers was unable to call on Boyata for the club’s crucial Champions League qualifier against AEK Athens which they lost 2-1 and exited the competition. The team had been struggling defensively but the defender said he was injured and his agent said he wouldn’t play for the club again.

Windass, who left Rangers for Wigan Athletic earlier this month, used the incident as a way to have his fun, referencing Celtic legend Hartson’s claims that Boyata was worth £50 million during the World Cup.

He tweeted: “He was worth 50 million 6 week ago ?” accompanied by the picture of the Celtic fans holding up the banner.

The comments provoked many replies and has currently been shared more than 2,000 times.
