The Herald and Times insist both the manager and his superiors believe he’s capable of turning things around at the Scottish champions this season, despite falling 11 points behind rivals Rangers in the title race, albeit with two games in hand, and failing spectacularly in European football thus far.

Celtic fans, who have been growing in their dissent of the current boss over recent weeks, were understandably frustrated at this latest bit of news and let their feelings known on social media

@PodTims wrote: “If Celtic are sticking with Lennon then come May you won’t be able to hear yourself think for the chanting of “One Neil Lennon” ... it just won’t be from Celtic fans.”

@TheCelticWray added: “All aboard the Lenny Bus, its the No55 and its heading to the Ibrox terminal sooner than scheduled.”

While @LupinBhoy predicted: “Lennon will be gone after the next Rangers game, because he ain’t going until then winning every game. He has lost the players and shows no interest on the touch line. His team has played badly in the last 5 Sevco games. It ain’t going to change.”

@thatsworldclass was harsher, tweeting: “Club is an embarassment tbh. From Desmond down they have quickly turned us from the highs of Rodgers to the laughable mess under Lennon. Well played guys. Won't be spending another penny until Lawell and Lennon are binned.”

@EuCelt echoed those feelings, writing: “What a joke - if true! An inept stubborn manager who can’t see further than gripping desperately to his own job! It’s clear the team are in a mess.”

@joydivision61_h offered a potential solution if the status quo was to be maintained: “If Neil is staying then he’s got to drop players who aren’t playing for him.”

Though @GreatNumber7s didn’t think there was much to see in this latest story: “This is Rangers propaganda designed to keep Celtic supporters fighting with each other online. I'm not happy either with the team or Neil, but this is clickbait p***.”
