'His captain days are long gone': Celtic fans react to Scott Brown penalty concession against Hibs

Celtic looked to be in control of their trip at Easter Road before captain Scott Brown barged into Hibs winger Martin Boyle and referee Bobby Madden pointed to the spot.

Though Kevin Nisbet saw his penalty saved by Scott Bain, Jamie Murphy was quick to the rebound, firing it in off the far post and giving the home side the lead.

The hosts soon doubled their lead a short-time later through Rangers loanee Jamie Murphy.

Having already been vexed with the manner in which their side has started this season, including manager Neil Lennon’s reliance on their 35-year-old skipper, Celtic fans were not surprisingly unhappy with the midfielder’s decision on social media and the current state of their title chances.

@TheTweetofShaun tweeted: “Brown and Lennon are killing us.”

@BreeksSweet added: “Brown should have been dropped a long time ago. His captain days are long gone.”

While @sc32ie pointed out: “Crazy from Brown, would expect that sot of challenge from an inexperienced player.”

And @Johnny_Carey vented: “Absolute f****** madness from Brown. Keeper saves and we’re all f****** sitting watching it while they score rebound.”

@GerryMc85582508 without much confidence going forward: “Time for the Lennon experiment to end. I have 100% given up on the idea of TIAR.”

Though @DanManCelt was looking for someone else to blame: “Aye well seeing madden gives that one but denies us 3....”

While @Jboyle102 had a simple request from his beloved football club: “Any chance could get my season ticket money back f****** shambles been terrible all season.”
