A police spokesman refused to confirm the identities of the three men but said officers dealt with a breach of the peace disturbance in the city centre.

No-one was injured.

A statement from Premier League club Caley Thistle read: “Regarding the incident in the city centre involving two players from Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC, the matter has been dealt with internally and as far as the club is concerned is now closed.”

Doran joined Caley Thistle in the summer of 2011 following a loan spell from Blackburn Rovers at the end of the previous season.

He has gone on to make more than 100 appearances for the Caley Jags but has been in and out of the starting line-up this campaign. The 23-year-old has not played since coming on as a late substitute in the Highland derby at the end of January and has missed the last two games with a groin injury.

His contract with Inverness expires at the end of next season.

Devine has been with Caley Thistle since January 2013 and is out of contract at the end of the season.

The former Fleetwood Town man has made one appearance this season, as a last minute substitute in the Scottish Cup against Partick Thistle.
