Burchill hails young Lions after victory

LIVINGSTON assistant coach Mark Burchill says the club will continue to put their faith in youth after seeing teenager Kyle Lander score on his debut in a 3-0 win at Dumbarton.

The Lions fielded four teenagers as they eased past Ian Murray’s side.

Burchill said: “We had three 17-year-olds and a 19-year-old with two guys making their debut and they didn’t look out of place.

“But I’ve got to give special mention to Kyle on his first game. To score a goal on his debut at 17 is fantastic.”

Lander struck in 32 minutes and second-half goals from Paul Watson and Danny Mullen tied up the points for the visitors.

Sons boss Murray, whose team sit four points ahead of Cowdenbeath in the battle to avoid a relegation play-off, said: “The only consolation we can take is that nothing has changed at the bottom of the league – we are still in the driving seat.”
