What happened to Di Maria?

According to RMC Sport the incident took place during Angel Di Maria’s appearance in the Ligue 1 game.

Several individuals are said to have entered the house when scenes turned “violent”.

Angel Di Maria was substituted off the field after sporting director Leonard took a phone call. A concerned Leonardo rushed down to manager Mauricio Pochettino and explained the situation.

A concerned Pochettino then substituted Di Maria, escorted him down the tunnel and left his assistant in charge of the team for several minutes.

A source within the club said the situtation at Di Maria’s Parisian home turned “violent”, according to RMC Sport, though this appears to be refuted by comments presented by the police to the outlet

Police told RMC Sport the player's wife and his children were present but that there was no face to face confrontation with the burglars. Di Maria’s wife, Jorgelina Cardoso, was said to be “extremely shocked”.

The robbers are said to have taken hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of goods.

Angel Di Maria’s home has previously been targeted by burglars. In February 2015 while with Manchester United, intruders attempted to break into his home in North West England.

What happened to Marquinhos?

Marquinhos’ parents, who live close by to the home of Di Maria, were all the subject of a robbery.

According to RMC Sport sources the couple were kidnapped by intruders, with Marquinhos’ father allegedly receiving blows to the chest and the head.

Robbers escaped with tens of thousands in stolen goods after the incident which is said to have last between 30 and 40 minutes.

Marquinhos shared a statement on his Instagram on Sunday night which confirmed that the house of his parents was broken into while they were present but “nobody suffered” and police authorities were now investigating.

Police are now investigating both incidents
