Police in Inverness received a report at 9.15am of a bomb at the city’s Charleston Academy, which is situated in the Kinmylies area.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The school was evacuated to allow for enquiries by local officers until it was confirmed that the call was not genuine and was assessed to be a hoax.

“At 10.19am, the staff and pupils were allowed back into the school.
“Enquiries into the matter remain ongoing at this time and officers would ask if anyone has any information about the incident that they contact Police Scotland on 101.”
He added: “It should be noted that hoax calls which involve the emergency services are taken extremely seriously and if found to be malicious may result in a person or persons being reported to the Procurator Fiscal.”
