Xbox Showcase 2023: All games announced and release dates - including Fable and Starfield

The 2023 Xbox Showcase is here and was packed full of game announcements - here’s what was announced by Microsoft and their release dates

Microsoft debuted their Xbox Showcase on Sunday (June 11) with some big announcements coming to the console in the next couple of years. The hour livestream looked at upcoming games for the Xbox Series X|S as well as some games that will be available on the Xbox One.

The gaming company made some big announcements including the reveal of Fable, Starfield and Forza Motorsport. The Xbox Showcase came as part of the Summer Game Fest conference that has been happening all weekend and has already seen the announcement of some huge games coming in the next year.

Xbox followed PlayStation who held its showcase event last month which left many fans disappointed in what was coming to the console. Despite the disappointing show, it was announced that 12 of the games would be coming to Xbox in the coming couple of years.

The Xbox Showcase comes as many gaming companies and developers have chosen to broadcast their own events after pulling out of gaming trade event E3. with Nintendo yet to make any announcements on when fans can expect a Nintendo Direct, with rumours suggesting it could be expected some time in July.

Fable

No release date - day one on Game Pass

The Xbox Showcase kicked off with a first look at Playground Games’ upcoming Fable reboot. The game was presented by television presenter Richard Ayoade who narrated the trailer, sticking to his dead-pan British humour.

Although there’s no release date announced for the game, Xbox announced the game would come to Game Pass on day one.

South of Midnight

No release date - day one on Game Pass

South of Midnight will be coming from developer Compulsion Games for the Xbox Series X|S as well as PC. The trailer showed a mysterious character playing guitar beside the river whilst main character Hazel appeared looking for a monster with teeth like knives.

Xbox had an impressive Showcase event with the announcements of Fable, Starfield and Forza Motorsport

Star Wars Outlaws

2024

Star Wars Outlaws was announced during the Xbox Showcase. The trailer showed fans some iconic Star Wars items including the cantinas, a Rancor and Stormtroopers.

The game is set to be an open-world and players will travel alongside an adorable companion.

33 Immortals

2024

33 Immortals is a top-down action game which maintains the hand-drawn visuals from developers Thunder Lotus’ previous game Spiritfarer. The game will support 33 players all at the same time as you fight your way through the various levels.

Payday 3

September 21, 2023 - day one on Game Pass

During the Xbox Showcase, fans were given a brand new look at Payday 3 gameplay which showed off new bank heist antics. Fans were shown a car chase and rooftop gunfights as well as new ways for players to get their pay day.

Persona 3 Reload

Early 2024 - day one on Game Pass

Persona 3 Reload will be coming to consoles in early 2024. The gameplay showed a first look at the remake which appears to bring Persona 3 up to a similar style of gameplay and visuals of Persona 5.

Avowed

2024 - day one on Game Pass

Obsidian has announced the release window for its long-awaited fantasy RPG Avowed. The first big trailer showed players fighting spiders and bears with spellcasting and sword combat.

Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island

July 20th, 2023

A new crossover will come to Sea of Thieves as the characters of Monkey Island come to the game. The pirate crossover is a perfect combination with the trailer teasing the return of some classic characters.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

2024 - day one on Game Pass

Fans were given a new look at Flight Simulator 2024, which adds a whole host of new roles and gameplay into the game. On top of the announcement it was revealed that Flight Simulator will be getting a Dune crossover expansion which will bring the thopter into the game on November 3.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II

2024 - day one on Game Pass

A release window has finally been announced for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 which is set to release next year. A new trailer for the sequel showed off the impressive new visuals coming to the next-gen console.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Early 2024

The next game in the Yakuza: Like a Dragon series has officially been announced. Ichiban has washed up on the beaches of Hawaii, fully naked and completely confused.

Fallout 76: Atlantic City

Coming soon

A new expansion trailer was revealed for Fallout 76: Atlantic City. No concrete information was given to fans other than “coming soon”.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess

No release date - day one on Game Pass

Capcom revealed a brand new game called Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess which is an action-focussed game with horror themes but a bright, colourful aesthetic.

Forza Motorsport

October 10, 2023 - day one on Game Pass

Forza Motorsport has been given the official release date for October. The game is a follow-up to the 2017 Forza Motorsport 7, with the new trailer showing off some impressive visuals.

The Elder Scrolls Online - Journey to Necrom

June 20, 2023

The Elder Scrolls Online will get a new expansion called Journey to Necrom. Fans don’t have too long to wait with the expansion being released next week.

Overwatch 2: A New Adventure Begins

August 10, 2023

Overwatch 2 fans will also get a new expansion added to their game in August called A New Adventure Begins.

Persona 5 Tactica

November 17 - day one on Game Pass

Atlus has announced the Persona 5 Tactica game that will feature Fire Emblem-style tactics on the Persona 5 world. The new chibi art style will bring a new adventure for the Persona 5 fans.

Starfield

September 6, 2023 - day one on Game Pass

Despite the hour-long Starfield Direct following the Xbox Showcase, a trailer was shown for the upcoming game. Fans were shown some shots of planets, spaceships and wildlife which then teased the direct.

Jusant

Fall 2023 - day one on Game Pass

Jusant is a gorgeous, colourful climbing game which will see the player solving puzzles as they scale cliffs.

Still Wakes the Deep

Early 2024 - day one on Game Pass

A short teaser trailer was shown during the Xbox Showcase which revealed Still Wakes the Deep. The game will explore an abandoned oil rig in a horror game format.

Dungeons of Hinterberg

2024 - day one with Game Pass

Dungeons of Hinterberg was announced at the Xbox Showcase and has a beautiful cel-shaded art style. The trailer showed fast-paced combat alongside varied environments.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

September 26

A new expansion will be coming to the Cyberpunk 2077 game due in September with the return of Keanu Reeves and the introduction of Idris Elba. The game’s new missions will all take place in the new area of Night City.

City Skylines 2

October 24, 2023 - day one with Game Pass

The sequel to popular city building strategy game City Skylines will be coming to consoles in October. A game trailer revealed that fans can expect something similar to the original game with a graphic update.

Metaphor Re Fantazio

2024

Metaphor Re Fantazio, a new RPG has been announced for PS5 and Xbox. The game is coming from Atlus from the creators of Persona 3, 4 and 5 and looks similar to the games style but in a brand new world.

Towerborne

2024 - day one with Game Pass

Towerborne is coming from the creators of the Banner Saga trilogy. The game is a co-op adventure and is set in a bright and colourful world.

Clockwork Revolution is a new first-person shooter with a steampunk style theme. The game trailer also hinted at manipulation mechanics.
