The 46-year-old told guests in Cannes at the launch of her new animal welfare charity, The Pamela Anderson Foundation, that she ‘did not have an easy childhood’, adding that she was ‘molested from age six by a female babysitter.’

Anderson added: “I went to her boyfriend’s house, and his older brother decided to teach me backgammon, which led into a back massage, which led into rape - my first heterosexual experience. He was 25 years old and I was 12.”

The actress also told the audience how she was gang-raped by her first boyfriend and his friends.

She said: “He decided it would be funny to gang rape me with six friends. I wanted off this earth,” adding: “This meant I had a hard time trusting humans. I wasn’t sure why I was alive. A burning question.”

Refusing to blame her parents for the abuse, Anderson admitted that her father had been an alcoholic, while her mother worked two jobs.

“My parents tried to keep me safe, but to me the world was not a safe place”, she explained. “My affinity with animals saved me. It came to me naturally. The tree spoke to me.

“My loyalty was with the animal kingdom and I vowed to protect them and only them.”
