Walid’s film demonstrates the University’s proximity to the stunning East Lothian coastline and the surrounding town of Musselburgh.

Musselburgh train station is located right next to the University and the A1 runs alongside the campus.

‘Soar’ also captures Edinburgh’s famous hills – Arthur’s Seat, located next to the Scottish Parliament and the Palace of Holyrood, and the Pentland Hills, situated to the south of the city next to the city bypass.

Salhab is best known for his breathtaking stop motion and time lapse films of Edinburgh and East Lothian and his portrayal of the Kelpies near Falkirk.

Contracted by the Helix to produce the Kelpies film, Walid is the only filmmaker to have had access to the complete build phase of the momentous Kelpies structures – thereby visually documenting a period in Scotland’s history.
