Tim Peake tweets stunning photo of Edinburgh from space

ASTRONAUT Major Tim Peake has shared a photo of the '˜great city of Edinburgh' from the international space station.

While not a new pastime - Commander Chris Hadfield was fond of photographing Scotland from space - the image shows the capital city from a very seldom-seen vantage point on a clear day.

Arthur’s Seat can be seen on the right hand side of the image, while the Forth Bridge is visible, along with the Forth Road Bridge and the new Queensferry Crossing - and eagle-eyed viewers may just be able to catch a glimpse of Hibernian’s Easter Road stadium to the north of Arthur’s Seat.

Major Tim, the first British-born spaceman on the international space station, has tweeted images of Scotland in the past.

In February, the astronaut tweeted an image of northern Scotland, with the caption: “It looks like a great day to be climbing a Scottish Munro today!”

The image has so far been retweeted over 300 times and liked more than 700 times.
