POLICE have appealed for any witnesses – in particular a van driver – following a crash on the A82 in the Highlands which claimed the life of a biker.

The tragedy involving a south-bound black motorbike happened between the Onich Filling Station and the Onich Hotel at around 3.30pm on Tuesday.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Sadly as a result of the collision the man riding the motorcycle died due to his injuries.

“A collision investigation is being carried out and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

He appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision.

The spokesman added: “We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a white Transit type van which was towing a trailer and travelling south at the time of the collision.”

The road was closed for several hours while investigators inspected the scene of the crash.
