Female driver taken to hospital after crash near Inverness

A FEMALE driver has been seriously injured after a horror crash involving a car, van and lorry near the Highland capital.

The accident happened on the A862 at Inchmore, by Inverness, shortly before 7.40am.

The road remains closed as police road traffic collision officers carry out investigations.

The female driver of the car had to be cut free from the vehicle by firefighters and was rushed to hospital.

The male van driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and was also taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment. The male driver of the lorry was unhurt.

A Northern Constabulary spokesman said: “The road is currently closed to traffic in both directions and a diversion is in place on a unclassified road around Inchmore, which is only accessible for cars.

“The road is expected to remain closed for some time while the the road traffic collision investigation is carried out and vehicles are recovered.

Drivers are asked to avoid to the area if at all possible and plan an alternative route of travel or if driving on the A862 in this area, to expect delays.”
