The Cairngorms’ Walk @ The Top guided tours have run on a trial basis since 2010, which has proved popular with visitors.

CairnGorm Mountain Limited has sought permission for a move that was previously banned because it infringed environmental rules.

The Highland Council’s planning, environment and development committe is set to discuss the company’s proposal.

A public consultation organised by SNH concluded that the walking tours would not compromise the site.

CairnGorm Mountain Limited, which manages the funicular and the Cairngorm ski resort on behalf of Highlands and Islands Enterprise, requires approval from the council because of conditions attached to the planning permission for the funicular railway by the council.
