Special assembly for tragic Sophie

A SPECIAL school assembly was held yesterday in memory of the 16-year-old schoolgirl who was killed in a double shooting tragedy in a remote Highland glen.

The emotional assembly for the 550 pupils at Speyside High School in Aberlour was held as classmates of teenager Sophie Taylor returned to their classes for the first time since last Tuesday's horrific incident in which Miss Taylor was accidentally shot by her boyfriend, Calum Murray, 18, before the trainee gamekeeper took his own life.

Police investigations are continuing into the double shooting at Blairnamarrow Cottage near the Lecht Ski Centre, ten miles from the Moray village of Tomintoul where Miss Taylor lived.

Miss Taylor was a fourth year pupil at the secondary school.
