Search resumes for missing hillwaker on Skye

A SEARCH has resumed for a missing 33-year-old hillwalker on the Isle of Skye.

• Oliver Smith failed to return from an expedition to the Bla Bheinn area of the Cuillin hills

• He was reported missing at 9pm on Saturday and a search began at 4am on Sunday

• The search resumed in the early hours of this morning

Oliver Smith, from Fife, failed to return from an expedition to the Bla Bheinn area of the Cuillin hills.

He was reported missing at 9pm on Saturday and a search began at 4am on Sunday.

It resumed in the early hours of this morning, involving mountain rescue team and RAF and Coastguard rescue helicopters.

The death toll on Scotland’s mountains has hit 14 so far this year.

Meanwhile, a major air and sea search in the Knoydart area over the weekend has failed to find any trace of missing Highland journalist Clive Dennier.

The 50-year-old from Inverness, a reporter with the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald, has now been missing for two weeks.
