Oran Mor: Iconic Glasgow venue recognised for excellence at The Nation’s Wedding Awards 2026

Here’s all the Scottish winners at the Nation’s Wedding Awards 2026.

An iconic Glasgow venue has been named among the UK’s best wedding spots at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Oran Mor,, on Byre’s Road, was awarded a ‘Recognised for Excellence’ award at the Nation’s Wedding Awards 2026 on Wednesday, February 11.

The winners were announced at an elegant ceremony that was held on Wednesday, February 11, at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in Birmingham.

The ceremony aims to celebrate professionals that have gone “above and beyond” and made a “real difference” in the industry with their excellent services.

The multi-purpose venue was founded as the Kelvinside Free Church, with the foundation stone laid in 1862.

Throughout the 1900s, the church served as a Parish church of the Church of Scotland for the people of Kelvinbridge and Hillhead.

By the late 1970s, the congregation had dwindled and the former Kelvinside Parish Church became redundant and derelict on its prominent site on the corner of Byres Road and Great Western Road.

In 2002, Glasgow entrepreneur Colin Beattie began work to transform the building into a multi-purpose venue with a focus on the arts and events.

The building was opened in June 2004, and was made up of gig, wedding, event and dining spaces.

While Oran Mor were recognised with an Excellence award, Cantley House Hotel in Wokingham won the title of Wedding Venue of the Year for the UK. The Shed at Mwnt in Cardigan won an Outstanding Achievement award.
