‘Quick-thinking’ policeman saves man who jumped off harbour in north of Scotland


Highland and Islands police division received a call before 1am on Sunday, November 15, after a person was seen near the water’s edge.
Despite entering the water, the man was safely rescued by PC George who jumped into the water and managed to pull the man to the safety of the life boat in attendance.

Hide AdThe man was taken to hospital for medical treatment and PC George was uninjured.
Jamie Wilson, Local Area Commander Chief Inspector said: “This was a distressing incident which called for extremely quick thinking.
"I dread to think what the outcome would have been had he not acted.
“I would like to thank the local coastguard, lifeboat crew and paramedics for their support during what was an extremely challenging call-out for the officers involved.
