X Factor finalist dies of cancer

A SCOTTISH X Factor finalist who had been due to perform with Susan Boyle has died of cancer.

Kerry McGregor, from West Lothian, appeared in the 2006 series, won by Leona Lewis. She performed in a wheelchair as a result of a childhood accident and went out in the third week of the live finals.

The 36-year-old, who became an ambassador for Action on Bladder Cancer, died at home yesterday after a long struggle with the disease. Colin Bunce, chair of the charity, said: “She was a truly inspirational person.”

McGregor was rehearsing and recording until last month and had been expected to perform with Boyle later this year.
