Richard Brake, popularly known as The Night King from Game of Thrones, as well as his work on Batman Begins and The Mandalorian, will make appearances, alongside Lysette Anthony, the star of swashbuckling science fiction classic Krull and Doctor Who.

Glaswegian Sean Biggerstaff, known for his Doctor Who work and role as Oliver Wood in Harry Potter, will be making his Capital Sci-Fi debut together with BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award winner Daniel Kerr, who also counts Doctor Who and Outlander among his credits. The current line-up for Capital Sci-Fi Con can be found here.

The not-for-profit family friendly pop culture, comic and movie convention donates all profits to Children’s Hospices Across Scotland – better known as CHAS, Scotland’s national children’s hospice service which cares for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

More guests and events

Organised for fans by fans, the last physical event in 2020 attracted nearly 8,000 visitors, with fans of Star Wars, Game of Thrones and Doctor Who attending and raising over £57,000 for CHAS. The overall total since 2016 is an out-of-this-world £315,000. More guests are set to be announced soon.

As part of the weekend’s entertainment, a separately ticketed Big Geek Quiz and Karaoke party featuring music of all genres is set for the evening of Friday 22nd of July at the O2 Academy. Meal with the Stars will take place on Saturday 23rd July. Attendees will be treated to ‘Darth Elvis’, which does exactly as you’d expect – adding a Sith lord’s twist to pop classics from the likes of the Jackson 5 (‘I Want Chewbacca’), Neil Diamond (‘Sheev Palpatine’) and more.

Organiser Keith Armour said: “We are thrilled to welcome Richard, Lysette, Sean and Daniel to Edinburgh for this year’s convention. It is lovely to be able to offer such an eclectic mix of guests, although Doctor Who is often the common denominator!

“There is more to come and we would encourage fans to book now if they would like to join our Meal with the Stars or Big Geek Quiz and Karaoke Nights. You never know who might turn up!”

About CHAS

Now in its 30th year, CHAS is the only charity in Scotland that provides hospice services for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions. The charity offers palliative care and respite for the whole family via its two hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch.

The CHAS at Home service supports families in their own homes and due to the pandemic, CHAS has set up Scotland’s first ever virtual hospice. Its family support teams also offer interactive activities, art clubs, storytelling and conference calls to children and parents.
