What Matters to Me: Anna Walton, actor

Anna Walton on “disgusting customers” and road rage

Who would attend your fantasy dinner party and what would you eat?

My extended family, as well as David Attenborough, Charles Darwin and Christopher Columbus. We’d be in the bush, eating lots of nibbly things like biltong and drinking red wine.

Whom did you last text and what was the message?

My sister Lucy. “How’s it going?” She’s in labour.

It’s not cool but... I don’t know what is meant to be cool or uncool. That might be uncool in itself.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

My mother told me to be responsible for my own happiness – not to expect anyone or anything to do it for me. And my father told me to smile often, as you feel good.

What’s the worst job you ever had?

Waitressing.

Some of the customers were quite disgusting.

Who is your favourite fictional character?

Growing up, it was Hal and Roger Hunt from the Willard Price adventure books.

What are you afraid of? Losing the people I love.

What situations make you lose your temper?

Mostly ones involving a car.

If you could choose a profession that you would like to try, what would that be? Why?

A naturalist. It would be endlessly fascinating.

What food or drink is always in your fridge?

Chocolate. Although, not in the fridge, as that’s not good for it. But it is always in the cupboard.

If you could change something about yourself, what would it be?

My singing ability.

If you could travel back in time, where would you go?

To the day my father died so I could say some things.

Saturday night or Sunday morning?

Depends what for. I am not a morning person.

Who or what is the love of your life?

Simon, Ollie and Avelina – my husband and children.
