Watch as NHS staff thank the public for their support with round of applause

Health workers at the Royal Alexandra Hospital said they were “showing the same support” that the public had shown them.

Staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley have shown their gratitude for those who have given them moral support during the coronavirus crisis.

Each Thursday since the start of the lockdown, thousands of people across Scotland and the rest of the UK have participated in a round of applause for health and care staff, and other key workers.

Now staff at the hospital have returned the favour, clapping for members of the public in a video posted on social media.

Surrounded by colleagues, one health worker tells those watching: “We, the staff at the emergency department at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, are thanking you for clapping for us, showing your support.

“Now we are showing the same support and clapping for you tonight.”

The staff then begin clapping and cheering in the 30-second clip, which has been liked by more than 300 people so far.
