‘This is the most confusing wall I’ve ever seen’: Scottish Parliament responds to hilarious viral Tik Tok

The Scottish Parliament has joyfully responded to a viral Tik Tok showing an American woman confused by the iconic Parliament buildling.

The short video showed an American woman, named Lauren, questioning the logic behind the Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh.

She said: “I’ve mentioned before that I like a lot of Parliament building because countries use them to say something about themselves

“Whether that be that they’re old and well established maybe using older architectural styles or that they’re super rich using fancier or more extravagant architectural styles

“You know, They’re always trying to say something.

Lauren adds:“It has one of the most confusing exteriors I’ve ever seen on a building

“It’s difficult to wrap my brain around how this all connects and is one building

“I actually really like the inside...I like how it looks kind of modern, the wood is kind of cool”

At this point in the video, the background shows the outside wall of the Parliament.

She continues:“But this is the most confusing wall I’ve ever seen

“What are these

“Are these alcoves off the hallway

“Can you like step into them and look out the window

“Why is one of the windows obscured by what I would describe as haphazzard looking wooden sticks

“But they’re not haphazzard

“They were placed there with very careful thought because they all match

“Why?”

The Visit Scottish Parliament account were delighted with the video, tweeting: “It's nice to be talked about..

“Thank you to Lauren who had some questions about our building... we have some answers!

“Lauren is right to say that the design of a parliament often says something about their country.

“Enric Miralles, the architect of (the Parliament) drew inspiration from the landscape..

"Miralles said: "The Parliament sits in the land because it belongs to the Scottish Land. ...We don’t want to forget that the Scottish Parliament will be in Edinburgh, but will belong to Scotland, to the Scottish Land."

They go on to explain how tragically Miralles died before the completion, so some of the reasons behind the design remain unknown.

The Tik Tok has been view 70K times.
