Here are a few of my favourites, which I hope will bring back memories of the past 12 months.

5. Beach day
This sketch reminds me of a hot day in June. I headed to the beach at Portobello and sat on one of wooden sleepers that lead to the water's edge and drew my view. I can hear the seagulls, the dogs yapping and the waves crashing in as I look at this sketch. . Photo: es
6. A new book festival location
This was the first time I had been to the book festival in its second year at Edinburgh College of Art. Beautiful buildings and amazing to see my first illustrated children’s book for sale in their shop, ‘Lily Topping’s Ice Cream Sunday’, written by Scott Coull. Photo: ES
7. The Queen’s papers
The morning after the Queen's death I was walking around in a bit of a daze through Stockbridge. I was struck by the visual impact of all the newspapers on the stand. Beautiful portraits of our smiling queen, a constant presence in an ever changing world and now no longer. Photo: es
8. A poppy in watercolours
This year I have been painting more sketches in watercolours alone, without any linework. Focusing my eye on the colours and layers which can be caught with this medium so well. This poppy I painted in many layers letting each one dry before adding the next. Photo: ES
