Blackford sits just south of the Highland boundary fault line, where small earthquakes are not uncommon.

The village, nicknamed Shaky Toun, was hit by a 1.3 magnitude earthquake in 2015, and an even larger one in 2011.

In June, the nearby village of Comrie, which is well-known for earthquakes, was hit by a 2.2 magnitude earthquake.

In 2016 figures revealed that Perth and Kinross was struck by an earthquake roughly every 12 weeks for almost two years.
