Prince Philip: Watch the moment the BBC halted its scheduled broadcasts to announce the Duke of Edinburgh's death live on air
The footage, shared on social media, shows the broadcast fade to black, before a black “News Report” title card was shown.
Viewers then saw BBC news presenter Martine Croxall appear on screen to break the news of Prince Philip’s death.

“The statement says: ‘It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle’.”
