The picture offers an incredible view of the famous structure, that many people will never have seen so close-up.

A ScotRail staff member tweeted the image and said: “Is it just me, or does anyone else's legs turn to jelly looking at this?”

The post has received an enthusiastic response online, with one Twitter user even suggesting that a roller-coaster track be added onto the bridge as the image reminded him so much of the video game ‘RollerCoaster tycoon’.

Another user had a similar thought and replied: “Terrified of heights but for some reason my first thought was ‘ooh big slide’!”In the past, ScotRail have been known to share extraordinary videos of the Forth Bridge, including what it’s like to be in the driver seat of their train as they make the famous journey.
