Long time friends and photographers launch ‘We Capture the Garden’ with debut workshop at Stobshiel Garden, East Lothian

Two accomplished photographers and friends of more than 20 years are launching a new photography venture focusing on the mastery of garden photography.

Transitioning from their successful backgrounds in children’s portraiture, Delia Ridley-Thomas and Nicola Hailstone are now turning their talents to ‘We Capture the Garden’ , a series of immersive garden photography workshops.

The inaugural workshop will take place on Saturday 9 May at the Stobshiel House in Humbie, East Lothian. Known for its elegant walled garden and magical woodlands and shrubbery, Stobshiel provides the perfect backdrop for photographers looking to sharpen their skills in a serene and inspiring environment.

Designed to be fun, informal, and highly practical the workshops are open to enthusiasts of all levels, whether using a camera or mobile phone. Participants will learn how to master light and composition, explore still life’s and the art of flat lay.

Delia and Nicola say the skills taught are designed to be versatile, aiming to help small business owners and hobbyists to create high quality, meaningful imagery for their own marketing and social media.

Homemade baking and refreshments are included, while a donation will be made to Remap Scotland, the UK’s only charity dedicated to providing custom made equipment, free of charge, to help disabled people achieve greater independence.

“We want these workshops to be about more than just settings on a camera,” says the duo “It’s about sharing our knowledge, enjoying the beauty of one of East Lothian’s most beautiful gardens and giving back to the community”.
