North Berwick Coastguard rescues dog stranded on dangerous rocks

A Coastguard rescue team have returned a stranded dog to his thankful owner after he was left stranded on a dangerous rocky outcrop on a beach in North Berwick.

The rescue team was called at 2:45pm on Tuesday, November 10, to find Fergus, a long-coated retriever, when he was cut off from Scoughall Beach by the tide.

He was quickly found with help from Dunbar Coastguard and RNLI Dunbar Lifeboats.

A spokesperson for North Berwick Coastguard explained that the unlucky dog had “adventured a bit far out and climbed to safety on rocks.”

Reunited with his grateful owner, there was just time for a quick photo with his rescuers on the beach.

“Dunbar ILB quickly arrived on scene to uplift Fergus and returned him to the safety of the beach,” they added.
