Hurley bowled over by Warne’s Scottish proposal

SHANE Warne and Elizabeth Hurley have become engaged in Scotland, it was confirmed yesterday.

The 42-year-old former Australian Test cricketer proposed to actress Hurley on Friday evening at St Andrews where he was taking part in the Alfred Dunhill Links golf tournament.

Organisers of the championship said that Warne proposed to Hurley before celebrating with guests and VIPs in St Andrews’ Old Course Hotel.

Earlier in the day, Hurley, 46, watched the divorced former spin bowler play in the second round of the championship, where he partnered Australian professional Peter O’Malley.

Hurley posted on her Twitter page: “Thanks for all your congratulations.”

She added a picture of herself and Warne about to go to dinner in St Andrews.

Her four-year marriage to businessman Arun Nayar ended in divorce at the High Court in London in June. They married in a civil ceremony at Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, in 2007 and held a party at the castle the following night.

In December last year, Hurley announced on Twitter that she and her husband had separated several months earlier.

Meanwhile, Hurley’s ex Hugh Grant has been banned from one of the top restaurants in St Andrews – after failing to show up for a booking.

The actor, who has been staying in Fife for the golf tournament, is now barred from the Seafood Restaurant.

Restaurant owner Tim Butler said: “If Hugh Grant wanted to book a table in his own name we would not take that booking.

“He books tables in several restaurants and then decides which one to go to.

“Last year his hotel concierge called up at the last minute and said he wouldn’t be coming out.”
