The Edinburgh Zoo and Highland Wildlife Park are to close until further notice, the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland has announced.

The move follows the latest government advice on coronavirus and social distancing, posting on their website, a spokesperson for the RZSS said: “We know our fantastic members and visitors have appreciated having outdoor spaces to roam and view our magnificent animals over recent days but this is the right decision at this difficult time. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.”

The RZSS thanked their teams at both parks, and added that they will keep people up to date with their latest news, including any animal births, and continue to highlight their many conservation projects here in Scotland and around the world.

Fans of the parks can also tune in to their live webcams to see what their favourite animals are getting up to, as well as help care for the animals and help save species in the wild by donating at rzss.org.uk/support-us.

To thank members, the RZSS are extending all memberships by an additional month free of charge.
