Edinburgh most likely city in UK to see a White Christmas

Edinburgh is the bookies’ favourite to see a White Christmas this year.

Leading bookmaker Coral says Scotland’s Capital is the 2-1 favourite in the firm’s betting on where snow will fall.

Newcastle is 3-1 to see the white stuff on the big day; Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds are 4-1, while London can be backed at 5-1.

"Of all the major cities in the UK, it is Edinburgh which is the most likely to see snow on Christmas Day this year, according to our betting," said Coral's John Hill.

"It is no surprise that the Scottish and northern cities in England are the most prominent in the betting for a White Christmas, however, we are not ruling out widespread snow across the UK this year," added Hill.

Punters can also bet on whether the UK will have the coldest winter on record this year, at odds of 4-6, or the coldest December on record at 2-1.
