Edinburgh Dungeon: Capital tourist attraction asks people to find their inner warrior in William Wallace competition

Edinburgh Dungeon has launched a competition for people for people to channel their inner William Wallace.

The city centre tourist attraction is asking people to find their fighting spirit and find the William Wallace inside themselves and express it in writing and photo form.

Entrants will have to take a picture of themselves as the Scottish icon as well as writing a small piece on why they should be picked.

Two potential Wallace’s will be chosen, and put to the public vote, with the winner will earn themselves: “an overnight stay at the stunning 4-star Apex Grassmarket Hotel Edinburgh with breakfast included along with an evening meal at the ultra-trendy Hard Rock Café Edinburgh and not forgetting tickets to the Dungeons themselves!"

William Wallace was a leader during the Scottish wars of Independence and holds legendary historical status in Scotland.

The Dungeons are hoping people will find their inner fighter and express what Wallace represents to them.

Kathryn Angel, General Manager of the Edinburgh Dungeon said: “We can’t wait to welcome guests back underground to our infamous Dungeons.

"The past twelve months have been tough for everyone, and we know that the one person from Scottish history to lead us out from Covid restrictions and towards freedom is the iconic William Wallace

“So, we want to see which of our bravest Scots resembles our freedom fighter’s character the most.

"Let the battle commence!”

The Edinburgh Dungeon can be found at 31 Market St, Edinburgh and plans to reopen after coronavirus lockdown on May 1.
