Michael Christie, of Glasgow, found an old toilet and turned the bowl into a fire pit with a grill over it, and used the cistern to cool drinks in.

And he was so pleased with his creation, that he put the combination BBQ and drinks cooler up for sale on Facebook for £50, prompting a surge of interest.

However, after countless likes and shares, the 26-year-old has been keen to stress that the item wasn’t actually for sale, and just to make people laugh.

Michael said: “It was an old pan outside. We got an idea, just with the hot weather.

“So we took the top off it and filled it with ice, and put beer in.

“We put an old grill on it.”

The idea gave him such a chuckle that he posted it on a Facebook sellers group, prompting a huge response.

Michael added: "We were just having a laugh putting it up for sale for £50.

"I didn’t expect it to get this response.

"Suddenly it got all these likes and shares, and we couldn’t stop laughing.

"It got a lot of people commenting that it had made their day.”

While Michael has no immediate plans for any other inventions, he can’t rule out any other ideas in future.

"I’ve nothing else planned, but you never know, next week I could do something else, you just don’t know.”
