Dion, 41, planned to bring Gobi back to Scotland with him so set up a fundraising page to help with costs.

Almost £20,000 has been raised in less than a month by supporters from all over the world. However the dog has since gone missing from a friend’s house in the Chinese city of Urumqi.

Dion said: “We are devastated and shocked to hear that she is now on the streets of the city and that our plans to get her to the UK are up in the air. We just need everyone to pray that she is found.”
