Ryder ruined

The Ryder Cup was an embarrassment. Every tee shot was accompanied by background helicopter noise, while the audience – some clearly inebriated – chanted and shouted as putts were skilfully sunk. The dignity once associated with this most gentlemanly of games has clearly departed in the face of crass commercialisation and the cult of celebrity.
