No tribal divide

According to the obviously well-travelled, David Roche (Letters, 26 May), "the English neither know nor care about Scotland". Some might. Some in Scotland might feel the same about England.

You could also argue there was a certain apathy between Yorkshire Tykes and Lancastrians; Highland teuchters and Lowland sassanachs; between Glasgow and Edinburgh, or Protestants and Catholics throughout the UK. The vast majority on this island of ours are not tribal by nature and have no need or desire to return to the days of no-go areas for certain sections of our community.
