The article by Barny Evans (Perspective, 25 January), in which he suggested electrifying our 
cities, was very interesting, but can I suggest that your editorial policy should really be stricter?

Evans painted a wonderful fantasy picture but why was he not pressed to supply some practical details and some cost estimates?

For example, he suggested
replacing space heating by gas to heating via heat pump.

What cost implications would this entail?

Also, as we know heat pumps require a flow of fluid to bring “warm” fluid into the refrigeration system. How would we do this in heavily built up areas, in particular tenements?
