Animal practice

WAS amused and confused by the proposal by Fiona Pereira of Animal Aid (Letters, 16 November) suggesting that “the best way to help animals is to adopt an animal-free diet”.

What does she think will happen to all those animals that are living but then would then not be necessary as part of the food chain? I suspect that they would have to be killed, which does sound a little unfriendly to me.
