The coastal community of Balintore was at the centre of a shock weapons incident at the weekend, with police officers descending on the Easter Ross village to carry out inquiries.
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed one person had been detained in connection with the incident.
Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
A spokesman said: “Police in Alness and Tain are currently making enquiries into an incident in Balintore involving an air weapon which occurred during the early hours of Saturday July 5 2014.
“If any persons have any information they are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
They confirmed a woman had been arrested and would appear in court later.
Balintore is one of three villages on the northern stretch of the Moray Firth coastline -with Hilton and Shandwick - which are known collectively as the Seaboard Villages.
