Dead climber is named by police

A MAN found dead near a Highland mountain top has been named by police.

Robert Tasker, 55, from Dundee, died on Meall nan Peitherin, south of Ullapool.

Mr Tasker, who had been with a family member and a friend, was described by police as an “experienced hillwalker”.

The alarm was raised just before 12pm on Monday and Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team were scrambled to locate the group. However, by the time they arrived, Mr Tasker was dead.

His body was taken to Raigmore hospital in 
Inverness.

Police said his death has been caused by “an apparent medical condition”.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Meall nan Peitherin is part of the East Fannich range, and is 974m (3,196ft) high.
