Woman, 24, killed in crash near Loch Ness beauty spot

A young woman has died after a car crash on the A82 near Loch Ness on Monday afternoon.

Police Scotland confirmed that they have opened an investigation into the crash, which happened at 3:15pm near Borlum Farm, Drumnadrochit, yesterday.

Officers said the crash involved a blue Citroen C3 travelling south, and a grey Honda CRV travelling north.

The 24-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Citroen, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man is described by medical staff as in a serious but stable condition, while the woman is described as stable.

Sergeant David Miller, Road Policing Unit, Highlands and Islands, said: "Although we have spoken to a number of people who stopped following the crash, we are still keen to hear from anyone who saw the crash or possibly the cars on the road just prior to the collision.

“We're also looking for any dash-cam footage of the area at the time.

"Information can be passed to Road Policing Officers at Dingwall Police Station via 101. Please quote reference number 1838 of 12 October 2020 when calling."

Borlum farm, which lies between the village of Drumnadrochit and Urquhart Castle, is close to the mouth of the River Coiltie, which feeds into Loch Ness.

The location overlooks the shores of Loch Ness and is a popular destination for tourists and camping enthusiasts.
