Watch as Glasgow boxing club devastated after flames rip through building

A former club member said the sight was “gutting for everyone.”

A boxing club in Newarthill, Glasgow, has been severely damaged in a major fire.

Flames tore through the premises on Mosshall Street at about 6.55am on Monday, July 27.

Fire crews were called to tackle the blaze which engulfed most of the building.

No casualties have been reported so far.

Footage taken by James Clarke, a former member of the Newarthill Boxing Club, shows billowing smoke rising up into the air from the enormous flames.

In a message on twitter he said the fire was “gutting for everyone” and those running it had recently done some work on the building.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We are currently in attendance at a building fire on Mosshall Street, Newarthill. We received the call at 6.55am [on Monday, July 27], and six appliances were mobilised to the scene.

"Crews continue to tackle the fire. There are no reported casualties."
