Two men in Lanarkshire attack 34-year-old man and set vehicle on fire

Police in Lanarkshire are appealing for information following what has been described as a serious assault and wilful fire-raising in Wishaw on Thursday.

At around 9.25pm on Thursday, March 4, two men entered a property on Ettrick Street in Wishaw and seriously assaulted a 34-year-old man before setting fire to a vehicle outside of the property.

The victim was taken to Wishaw General Hospital with serious injuries and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Police enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Constable David Duers of Lanarkshire CID said: “This was a terrifying experience for the victim who sustained serious injuries as a result.

“The suspects arrived and left the scene in a dark coloured vehicle, believed to be a Volvo.

"I would encourage anyone who saw the vehicle before or after the incident to get in touch with police.

“Anyone with information which could assist our investigation is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 3192 of 4 March.”
